Sarah and I had nice looks at about a dozen Rock Sandpipers clustered in the lower rocks on the beach side of the Ocean Shores jetty at high tide (after a fantastic pink sunrise), and then the rain and wind started up. We saw the Emperor Goose well on the grass with 2 Greater White-fronted Geese, a Dusky Canada Goose, and various other Canada's Cackler's American Wigeon's and a Eurasian Wigeon - all near hole 13 of the golf course, by the CInema, near the corner of Pt. Brown and La Chance a la Mer. Thanks to Doug Schurman, Sherry Hagen, William Parker, Alex Wang and Amar Ayyash, who all offered friendly and helpful advice in response to my post.

The Snowy's were all hunkered down in the wind and rain, except for one being forced to fly by a photographer who walked right up to it. There were apparently a dozen or more, but we left after seeing about 8 when we ran out of coffee and hot chocolate. Again, lots of friendly and helpful birders out walking on Damon Point, despite the weather, including Paul Bannick, who also had interesting info about owls and owl behavior. Will have to go see how his pics turned out when he talks Jan 12th at the Mountaineers near Sandpoint, if I remember correctly.
