We were at a beach resort in Florida. I knew what I was
doing. I knew if I opened the door, I?d hear House Sparrows, so I only
opened the curtain, then looked out to the beach, skipping over the gulls that
were too far away to ID. In about 5 seconds, a BROWN PELICAN flew into
view for my first of 2012.

It would be wrong to say that I waited for a quality bird, but I did put
thought into engineering a quality bird, and I suspect that?s true for several
people.

Good Question. I did, truthfully, have a White
Breasted Nuthatch as my first a few years ago but this year - House
Finch!

I can only wonder....how many of us wait for a "quality
