Dear Tweeters,

Since my query on Wednesday, I've learned two very important things: (1) If
I lived in Seattle, I'd never get any work done because the birds are *right
there*, and (2) Seattle birders are generous and friendly people. I
designate you all honorary Southerners.

Here is a summary of the recommendations:

The top 3: Montlake Fill, a.k.a. Union Bay Natural Area, Discovery Park,
and Magnuson Park, in that order. They're all great spots and easy to
access by bus.

Other suggestions include Alki Point in West Seattle, the Bainbridge Island
Ferry, Seward Park, Lincoln Park, Schmitz Park, Foster
Island/Arboretum, Marymoor
Park in Redmond, Redondo Beach in Federal Way and Dash Point State Park,
and Myrtle Edwards Park (downtown).

I'm still a little up in the air about my plans, since I have to work
around professional commitments (they're paying my fare, after all) and
touring the city with a non-birding spouse. I think Saturday afternoon
we'll take the Bainbridge Island ferry, and then Sunday morning I'll have
time to bird, perhaps in West Seattle, though I may still try Discovery
Park. Too many options!
