This morning I relocated the TUFTED DUCK ?seen a week ago along the Columbia River.? It was at the same location, the first parking area leading into the marine park boat ramp about 1/2 mile downstream from the Water Resources Education Center, in front of a small bay where patrol boats are dock ed .? This is 1.2 miles west of Wintler Park off SR 14 but requires access from the west. ? When first seen last week I had questions of whether it was a hybrid with Ring-necked Duck , but today I had better light and got a better photo for WBRC review.? It showed no gray on the sides. ?I also had a?good look at the "tuft" which was clearly visible,? but only during one? surface from an active foraging session.? T he extended white wing stripes were evident when a Bald Eagle moved the flock upstream toward the condos and Wintler Park.? A nice male Barrow's Goldeneye was present among many scaup (almost all greaters) with the TUDU. ?


During a?very quick stop at the south Vancouver Lake access off LaFramboise Road I heard a Red-shouldered Hawk calling constantly from the east side of the road, and at one point a second one called in the distance?from the?west side of the road leading to the boat access.



The Northern Mockingbird was present this morning at the 5400 block of Harney St in NW Vancouver.
