Hi All,

I'm going to retract my notion that the Yellow-billed Loon in Wenatchee
is a hybrid. Sorry about the false alarm. I took a look at several
photographs of Yellow-billed Loons on-line, specifically 1st winter
birds, and this one does seem to fit. I do think the bill may be a bit
deformed, and I'm still trying to make sense of the head being held
level (feeding mode, perhaps), but otherwise things pretty well work for
Yellow-billed Loon.

This morning I was able to re-locate the Chelan County Northern
Hawk-Owl. I did see it while I was stationed a short ways down hill from
mile post 6 on Union Valley Road. It was a good 1/4 mile or so in and
north from the road though.

Barred Owls seem to be able to eek out just about any nitch. There was
one in plain sight along the road just north and a bit down from the
summit of Badger Mountain. Looks like it is a code 5 for Douglas County.

Cheers,
