Northern species continue at Dungeness and Sequim. Dow Lambert
reports that the two Emperor Geese first spotted by Sue Chickman
flying into Dungeness Bay on 12/31/11 are still present today,
1/11/12, along the south shore at about the 1.5 mile point on
Dungeness Spit, occasionally coming onshore, but mostly swimming
offshore. One Snowy Owl continues at about the 3 mile point on the
spit. One 1st-year Glaucous Gull is hanging out with a gull flock at
about the 1700 block of W Hendrickson Rd, about 1/4 mile east of the
Dungeness River Audubon Center and RR Bridge Park, present since Monday.

Denny Van Horn says at least one American Tree Sparrow and a Mountain
Bluebird continue near the 3 Crabs Restaurant. The sparrow is across
the road south of the restaurant and the bluebird is across the road
west of the restaurant. These birds have both been present for about
3 weeks.

It's interesting how persistent these birds have been, some since at
least our CBC on Dec 19.
