Dear Tweeters,
The Yellow-billed Loon was present well south of Walla Walla Point
Park at around noon today (1/14). At around 1:30, it flew northward,
passing near to the spit in Walla Walla Point park and landing just a
bit north of the spit, but on the Douglas County side of the
Columbia. The bird was actively diving and visible to myself and a
group of three birders from Bellingham until around 2:20. Also
present were at least three male Eurasian Wigeons mixed in with the
American Wigeons. Neither myself, nor the other birders present were
able to dig up and definitive female Eurasian Wigeons. Other species
include a few Western Grebe, Horned Grebe and the standard assortment
of Winter ducks (no Barrow's Goldeneyes however).

For those who count such things, the Loon was/can-be seen in both
Douglas and Chelan county waters. The Eurasian Wigeons were
unequivocally in Chelan County.
