This past Wednesday I had an excellent day of birding and photography around
Ocean Shores. I saw the Emperor Goose behind the Cinema thanks to a birder
who gave me directions to it. Out on Damon Point I saw multiple Snowy Owls.
At the Breakwall were Surf Birds, Rock Sandpipers and Black Turnstones.
At the spot where Damon Point spit connects to the mainland, I scoped a
flotilla of diving ducks along the north shore, looking for the female King
Eider. I photographed the group offshore from several angles and checked
the photos later. I saw male and female Surf Scoters, female White-winged
Scoters, and a female Red-breasted Merganser, but did not find the female
King Eider.
I would be interested in any photos of the female King Eider, if any are
available.
