I had a great trip on Sat and Sun to Oregon and South West WA.
1) First stop was for the Woodburn Brambling - got great view at around
10:00 am.
2) Then to Marine Park in Clark Cty for the Tufted Duck - saw both the
mixed and pure bread ducks.
3) Off Ridgefield NWR - Likely Red-shouldered Hawk at mid-point
(parking/walking area) - bird posted on board at entrance.
4) Woodland bottoms - relocated Red-shouldered Hawk posted by Russ K.
5) Looked for the Horned Larks and Lapland Longspurs that Russ posted -
must have been in the wrong place. Did find some Larks during my trip
through the bottoms, but dipped on the Longspurs.
6) Sunday planned to got to Julia Butler NRW, but saw post by the
Hagens about Yellow-billed Look in Ilwaco - arrived at 8:30am - no loons
seen. By 10:00am several loons had appeared, including the Yellow-billed.
7) Tried to make it to Ocean Shores for the Emperor Goose and Eider but
the weather turned and had to head home.
A great weekend chasing a lifer (Brambling) and three difficult birds for
WA.
