The ancient Volvo started right up this morning but refused to maneuver through the icy slush, dashing my hopes of getting to Seward Park for a post storm walk. Instead, I walked down the hill to the marina. Most of the floaters were the usual winter suspects: Mallards, Gadwalls, Buffleheads, Ring-billed Ducks, Pied-billed Grebes, a few scaups and wigeons. Still, along the shoreline I found a small group of Killdeer and then flushed at least a half dozen American Pipits. This was the second time in over 10 years that I've found Pipits at the marina. The last time may well have been during the last big snowstorm.
