I checked my archive back 4 or 5 years and didn't see this mentioned so thought I would drop a quick note. The Sammamish River empties into the north part of Lake Washington in the Inglewood part of Kenmore. Since it is near Inglewood Country Club and Simonds Road, we often call this "Simonds Slough" although this is our made-up name. No idea what the locals call it, probably most properly it is Sammamish River Slough. We stopped in there for the first time in a long time today and were treated to 4 male and 1 female hooded mergansers plus a couple of female common mergansers flying and swimming through (we may have seen the same individual multiple times). The pothole-filled parking / kayak launch area is best accessed from 68th Ave going southbound (just south of NE Bothell Way and NE 175th St).
