Muscovy ducks were the scourge of the grandkids (including yours truly) at Grandma's house.
They always displayed nasty attitudes, and who knows why? Identity crises, perhaps?

I saw two of these birds at Seward Park yesterday - black with red eye bands and very stocky feet. They sat on this trash dumpster for a long time and were not disturbed by runners, cars, etc. The only bird in my Sibley Field Guide that looked close to me was the red faced cormorant - can anyone confirm? A picture (bad one from my cell phone) is attached - i have more as well.
