In my sister's yard there have and still are 17 Varied Thrushes. Wish they would hang around and start fluting at once. -10 maids a milking, 9 drummers drumming...Has anyone noticed how they are hawk lookouts for the Juncos?? Seems we have a family of Coopers Hawks..Momma and her two kids and the Thrush lets them all know when one of them is around. Varied Thrush was in my backyard with the Juncos during the snow and he came over to my patio and looked in as if to say "Don't you have something better to eat then those sunflower seeds?" I haven't bought any of that wonderful seed that includes pecans, filberts, walnuts and the like..Budget a little tight at this house..
