hi all ... Gene and I went to visit the PDX Bunting today to look for his
Horned Lark buddies ... we weren't disappointed ... at one time nearly 60
Horned Larks in full cry (er, chirp ???) flew overhead, with most of them
coming in from the dike and Broughton Beach area ... five minutes later a
Red-tailed Hawk appeared, perhaps the reason they all were flying fast ???
... anyways, 5-20 Larks generally hung around at the Bunting's parking lot
with him following the flock around ... while there I only saw clean
looking fronts but afterwards looking at my photos I did manage to capture
one streaked variety ...

also seen -- Dark-eyed Junco, Great Blue Heron, and a flock of 10 birds
larger and darker than the Horned Larks who were also fleeing away from
the dike at the same time large Lark flock was ... haven't a clue what
they were ...

from PDX we then headed to Steigerwald Refuge parking lot to see if we
could find any Horned Larks there ... none around the parking lot ... we
didn't stay there long however as the rain front caught up to us ...
