I was just cleaning out my email and noted a posting on an article about the short-tailed albatross and recently hatched chick. I can tell you it is so I was on Eastern Island Monday morning and saw the male with the chick out from under him. The male looked perfect as a matter of fact when I was looking at the decoys I almost viewed past him. He looked handsome and the chick looked healthy.

Also it was awesome to be on Midway Island with about 1 million albatross and in the evening when the Bonin petrels emerged from their borrows the ski instantly resembled a swarm of mosquitoes.

Unfortunately because of weigh restrictions for the jet we fly in on I did not take a good camera I did how ever get video of albatross pair bonding rituals.
