We also had a bad experience with Close Scientific, I think around
four years ago. We brought in a pair of Swift Ultralite binoculars
that were producing a gritty sound. We asked that they be cleaned and
adjusted. When we got them back (by mail), the gritty sound was still
there, they were as dirty as ever on the outside, and there was a
large visible drip mark of what appeared to be grease on the internal
glass. I called Close Scientific and they treated my complaint as
unremarkable. We refused to pay the invoice and sent the binoculars
to Swift, who did a good job cleaning them up.
