Hi Tweets,

I took a scouting trip Friday 1/27-Sunday 1/29 with Scott Ramos and Gary
Kelsberg for my WOS trip with co-leader Ruth Sullivan over President's Day
Weekend in the Waterville Plateau and Okanogan Highlands. We collaborated
with birding buddies the Cormier sisters Sharon, Joanne, and Liz, and Mark
and Lee Crawford. We found the Yellow-billed Loon in the Columbia River
from Confluence Park in Wenatchee. With some searching, we located the
Northern Hawk Owl in Watson Place on the north side of the open forest
bordered by Union Valley Loop Rd mile mark 6.4 on the south. To get to
Watson place take Sawmill Rd north off Union Valley Loop around mile marker
7, then take Open Rd west, then take Nancy Rd south until you get to Watson
place. You can walk or drive east on Watson Place to view the open forest
south between Watson Place and Union Valley Loop Rd. On Sunday we located
Sharp-tailed Grouse in Scotch Creek Wildlife Area.

We had a great trip with good observations of many of the specialties:
Long-eared Owl, Snow Bunting, Gray-crowned Rosyfinch, Common Redpoll, and
Pine Grosbeak. We heard reports of Northern Goshawk, Gyrfalcon and Snowy
Owl. A detailed trip report will follow pending my WOS trip with Ruth
Sullivan February 18th-20th.

Good birding,
