Hi Tweets,

I volunteered today at the Nisqually NWR and with the USGS for their Delta
Wide Survey. The Snowy Owl was clearly visible from Luhr Beach on two
different horizontal log snags on Nisqually Reach. Initially the bird was
observed just west of Nisqually River just north of the old dike foot
print, then again just east of Leschi Slough just north of the old dike
foot print. When we beached the boat on the marsh plain at the mouth of
the Nisqually River we flushed a Short-eared Owl approximately 2 feet from
the boat and had terrific looks. Black Brant Geese were mixed among the
large numbers of American Wigeon just beyond the reach.

Hunting season is over and the Estuarine Board Walk Trail is completely
open to the Puget Sound Observation Platform.

Good birding,
