A couple of things happened today that birders and nature lovers in the area
should be aware of. The Seattle Times sent photojournalist Erika Schultz to
Lincoln Park today to meet with concerned citizens. Look for coverage in the
Times later this week. A reporter at KOMO is asking for people willing to
speak with him for the 11 PM news tonight.

Lincoln Park is an urban sanctuary for many species of birds, several of
which would, I believe, lose an urban nesting habitat as the result of this
proposal. To say nothing of the loss of a resting place it gives to birds on
their way elsewhere. It is a wonderful place to be during migration seasons.
And it's a just plain beautiful place to be - in communication with natural
things - not people flying around from tree to tree, yelling, shouting, and
having a grand old time where the birds used to be.



The online response to the proposal has been enormous, almost entirely in
