My husband and I joined several others around 4:30 PM on Siwash Creek Rd
out of Tonasket as previously described to see the PAINTED BUNTING. The
bird is not hard to find for it sings a lot but it can be difficult to
photograph since it likes to sit in the upper branches in the back of the
trees in the shade. It also moves around a lot but as we watched it over a
2 hour period it began to show a routine route. It chases the Lazuli a lot.
Our apologies to Amy and Julie of Okanogan, yes the Painted Bunting is from
the eastern part of the country. Our fatigue set in when we said also AZ
which is wrong. That would be the Varied Bunting another great find if
someone could just spot one in the state this year!!!
