Hi!
I am a reader of all things tweeters and love learning about birds! I am
hoping this is an appropriate use of this list, please let me know if it
isn't.
I run the nature-based Summer Camp program at the Washington Park Arboretum.
We're looking for a birder who also likes working with kids who might want
to volunteer with us a few days this summer. During two weeks of camp field
groups will be taking a field trip to UBNA to go birding. Sadly our birder
from last year isn't able to join us this year so we're looking for someone
else who might want to share their love of birds with elementary age kids.
Here's what we're looking for:
- Someone who can share their love of birds with kids
- Someone who can plan a 1-hour workshop learning about and looking
for birds with kids at UBNA
- Someone who can commit to some or all the following dates/times:
o July 17, 18, 19, August 7, 8, 9
o 1 hour each day sometime between 10:30 and 1:30 - you chose (we're
coming by metro bus)
Some details about our camp program:
- Kids are in field groups by age (1st/2nd grade, 3rd/4th grade,
5th/6th grade)
- Each field group has 12 kids and two instructors (one lead, one
assistant)
- Our summer camps have nature-based themes and they spend all day
outside
- More can be found here:
http://depts.washington.edu/uwbg/education/Youth/summer.shtml
We can provide kid-friendly binoculars, some field guides and possibly other
materials as requested.
Send me an email or call me at (206) 221-6427 if you're interested in being
a part of our program this summer.
Happy birding!
