Really nice find Jeanelle! Thank you. Mike and I drove up Sunday and could hear the bird when we opened the door - then if flew across the road into sage - first time we have ever seen a Painted Bunting in sage!
Heading home we were lucky enough to encounter a BLACK-THROATED SPARROW a few miles north of Chief Joseph Dam along hwy 17 - there weren't many birds out in the heat but this species is used to it. Tried a few spots in Douglas County hoping for another but no luck.
