hi all ... last night we put up our first ever hummingbird feeder ...
thought we'd give it a try ... so this morning I sat and diligently
watched the feeder ... to my surprise our first visitor was a female
Rufous !!!!!!!!!!! ... I wasn't even aware we had any in the area ...
just so use to seeing the Anna's ...

we put the feeder pole up about 6 feet from our suet/seed pole ...
might be a tad too close as the Rufous lady did spend some time
chasing the Chickadees ... however since we currently have a BC
Chickadee family of at least 4 or 5 youngsters plus the parents
chowing down on the suet and seed I didn't mind a few of them being
chased away (grin) ... we also have a Chestnut-backed family coming
to the suet and seed but they seemed to have dispersed now ... or
perhaps they just cant get in to the feeders with all those BC's
hanging about !! ... LOL ... the Chestnut-backed amily was small,
only a family grouping of 4 ...

later,
Lyn
