Yesterday (7/11) was raptor Wednesday?in Edmonds,.? I got a brief glimpse of a Cooper's hawk??as it took off from a low tree or bush?by the retention pond at the end of the Pt. Edwards walkway.? I was not quick enough to get a photo, but a peregrine falcon accommodated me by making several circles over the fish hatchery and Pt. Edwards when I returned to my pickup.?
?
I drove to?Hickman Park, where a friend?had seen?juvenile Cooper's hawks.? I photographed two of them perched together in a branch and heard one or two others crying out.??Their behavior was similar to that of the juvie Cooper's hawks I had?photographed at Scriber Lake in 2010 and 2011.
?
I did not see any sandpipers at the marsh, but the marbled murreletes?were still calling to each other?off the fishing pier.
