I'm getting used to shooting myself in the foot, so here goes.? I'm gonna go with a Hammond's Fly.? The primary projection seems to be too long for a Pac Slope and the eye ring is pronounced enough to eliminate a Willow Fly.? OK, have at me, folks!!

Subject: [Tweeters] Empid ID help and other birds

Hello Tweeters,

The unusually noisy bird activity on our
property put me in stalking mode this morning. A small flock of
BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES were fussing in the Douglas Firs. Seems they
didn't care for the presence of a single CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE, a life
bird for a beginner like me. I actually managed to get several half-decent
photos, though it was done through a glass door. Link here: http://flic.kr/p/cwVDqd

After several weeks, they've finally found the bird bath, and decided to
give it a whirl. Two juvenile AMERICAN ROBINS were hopping clumsily
through the yard and picking insects off the ground. A squirrel chased one
of the Robins out of its tree, literally running after the low-flying
juvenile bird like a cat in pursuit. Hilarious!

An unknown
Empid flashed through the yard, flycatching on a Beaked Hazelnut. Anyone
want to take a stab at an ID? Here's a link to a poor-quality photo on my
flickr page: http://flic.kr/p/cwVT7G

A
juvenile NORTHERN RED-SHAFTED FLICKER was also hopping through the yard
with the Robins.
