Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday July 19. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On July 12 a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was heard calling at the Sandy River
Delta. It has not been relocated. An INDIGO BUNTING is now being seen
there. Another INDIGO BUNTING continues on the west side of Vancouver. The
female RUFF continues at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was
there July 13. The Indian Ford Campground CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER continues
to be see, although it now seldom sings. On July 12 a NORTHERN PARULA and a
BROWN THRASHER were at Flores Lake near Cape Blanco. An ICELAND GULL was
reported July 15 at Bully Creek Dam near Vale.

Shorebird movements continue strong with several SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS
reported. The shorebird activities in the South Jetty of the Columbia River
area include up to 90 MARBLED GODWITS, 27 WHIMBREL, a RED KNOT and a RUDDY
TURNSTONE.

On July 12 a RED-EYED VIREO was on the eastside of Coos Bay. A PALM WARBLER
was reported July 12 at Arch Cape, south of Cannon Beach. On July 17 about
15 BANK SWALLOWS were at the Sandy River Delta. Two early PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS were at Jackson Bottom in Hillsboro July 13. Another was at
Ridgefield NWR July 17. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was there the next day. Three
BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at Baskett Slough NWR July 11. A MERLIN was seen
July 17 at the Mt. Angel Sewage Ponds. A MARBLED GODWIT was seen July 17 at
the Redmond Sewage Ponds. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at Hatfield Lake near
Bend July 14.
