Hi Tweets,

I'll be rafting down the Grand Canyon over two weeks around Labor Day, and I'm trying to figure out what photo equipment to bring, based partly on what the birding opportunities are likely to be. (I can just picture deciding not to bring my 300mm lens and then having some magnificent rarity fly by.)

If you've done a Grand Canyon raft trip, I'd be interested in knowing your take on the bird life; and if you happen to also be a photographer, I'd love to get lens recommendations. I'll take a waterproof point-and-shoot on the river, so the question is more about what to stow for use on land. I shoot Nikon, if that matters.

Thanks much!
Trileigh
