Catching up on trip reports big and small.
To fill a free afternoon, I decided yesterday (Tuesday 7/24) to go in search of the ZEBRA FINCH reported at North Creek Park in Mill Creek.
I found the Finch - or more like the Finch found me. That little guy comes out like he's the North Creek Park Welcoming Committee! I encountered him (or her?) a few times in the vicinity of the junction of the boardwalks near the North end of the park. As reported, the bird is quite tame, popping out to greet me and hopping as close as two feet from me despite my having my (very quiet, mellow) Sheltie on leash with me.
I was able to take a bunch of pictures of the Finch. I also had good luck with an AMERICAN GOLDFINCH. Thought I'd share the images for fun.

I also noted a MATURE BALD EAGLE collecting and carrying a large stick back to its nest in a clump of trees to the East of the park (due East of the same boardwalk junction where I encountered the Zebra Finch). I couldn't tell for sure but it looked like maybe two Eagles are hanging out on the nest currently.
