Nice day for being outside, lots of sun but not too hot; yet. Juvenile
White-crowned Sparrows are now everywhere in the park, as are young
Brown-headed Cowbirds--saw feedings by Song Sparrow and White-crowned.
Spotted Sandpiper families still at Crescent Pond and the adjacent
connector ponds; one adult was calling incessantly from atop one of the
tall snags. Also at Crescent Pond was a Marsh Wren--they are slowly
starting to move in to the growing wetlands.

Only 1 juvenile Barn Owl was seen, perched on the roof of the firehouse
tower. Probably won't stay much longer as construction efforts at the
building have started. Two adults seen hunting in the central meadows at
dawn; one did an investigatory fly-over not two meters above my head. A
Barred Owl was seen roosting at Promontory Point, giving a great photo op.

Finally, other warblers besides the Common Yellowthroats: a young Yellow
Warbler, in the wetlands, and two Townsend's Warblers in the deciduous
woods nearby. And, a couple of Pacific-slope Flycatchers showed up in
different locations.

Yesterday, a juvenile Hooded Merganser was diving actively in the dead-end
lagoon.
