On Sunday, 7/29, I observed tens of thousands of Sooty Shearwaters flying
north. I only watched for about an hour (from 5:45 - 6:45 pm) and, when I
left, the birds seemed to be flying north in ever-increasing numbers. Brown
pelicans were alongside them from time to time. Observation area was Ocean
City State Park, but you can probably see them many places along
Washington's coast. If anyone living in or near Olympia might want to
carpool out to see them at the end of this week, let me know.
