On 6/1 while searching along Recreation Road for the reported Black-throated Sparrow (unsuccessfully), I did see a Common Loon in the Columbia River, up close. Plumage was a bit "smudgy" around the neck collar, bill black and held horizontal. According to "Birds of WA" this is not a common sighting this time of year.
