Tweeters, Late this morning a briefly visited Eide Rd. in Stanwood. Of note was a personal high count (as well as a great number regionally) of at least 350 Black Swifts. They were everywhere I looked in the sky. From Eide Rd east to Camano Island, south to Port Susan Bay and north to about the Highway. It was very difficult to even estimate their numbers, however I took the low end of my counts, but possibly up to a couple hundred more. Also of note were at least 4 continuing Yellow-headed Blackbirds and 2 Western Kingbirds. I then drove about 1/2 mile east to the first pullout on the south after passing the Island County line and observed the swifts from that vantage point as well. Additionally, 2 Western Kingbirds were present in that field. Then continuing north on Pioneer Highway, I pulled into the Milltown access and walked a short section of the dike trail where I had 1 Black Swift flying north at the tree top level along the slough!
