Greeting Tweeters,

I want to say 'thank you' to those who participated in our annual
GreenSTEM Summit Event on May 31 and June 1 at the Pacific NW Salmon
Center in Belfair, Washington near Hood Canal.

This was the eight year of the day-long spring event, with students
participating from K-12.

The afternoon of each day concludes with 'mentors' (you) guiding small
groups of students as they explore 90 acres of the Salmon Center
adjacent to the Theler wetland trail system and the IBA of lower Hood
Canal while they record their observations.

Many of the teachers/classrooms are replicating this type of monitoring
around their schools, and incorporating it into curriculum.

The program is supported by the Pacific Education Institute, the Russell
Family Foundation, Olympic Educational Service District 114, the PNW
Salmon Center, and the Puget Sound Partnership.

The student observation data is linked to the bird inventory data of the
region, and is shared with the Washington NatureMapping Program
database.

Due to the increasing number of schools involved (450 students), the
event took place over two days this year.

26 mentors were involved on Thursday and 21 on Friday.

It couldn't happen without the contribution of your time and passion.

Thank you. Thank you.

Dan
