Hello Tweeters,
Bill and I are gradually moving toward Spokane for the WOS meetings. Today we spent mostly driving in the rain over the North Cascades Pass Hwy. Two notable observations: one, a black bear ran across the road not too long before we got to Newhalem. Two, the cloud cover was very low and, as we got even lower, down on the Columbia River at Brewster, we started seeing Black Swifts. There were a few in town, then more on Hwy. 173 going toward Bridgeport. At one point near Bridgeport there were probably 20-30 at once. Then the clouds lifted a bit and the swifts vanished.
