This morning we found the EASTERN PHOEBE along the Oak Creek Canyon Rd off
US 12 out of Naches at about 1.7 miles sitting on the low dead branches of
a large tree on the right side the road. A WESTERN WOOD-PEEWEE came and
they interacted but not in a friendly way. It was great to see them side by
side for comparison. Then the Phoebe flew further up the hillside keeping
low to the ground working until it flew off to the left and we could not
re-locate it.

>From there we went down to the 2 1/2 mile area for the CHESTNUT-SIDED
WARBLER. We looked and listened for hours. Just before 2 pm the winds died
down and I finally heard the faint call of the warbler across the steam. My
husband and I crossed the stream using the large log and the Chestnut-sided
called several more times in the vicinity of the cattail marsh bushes and
trees. It stayed hidden unlike the many Lazuli Buntings and Yellow
Warblers that called all the time. I did find a MacGillivray's Warbler
there too.
