hola:

around noon time today, 6/6, there were three birds on the scrape. i had a
report there were only two in the early morning. an adult brought in a
small bird which was immediately corralled and hauled down to the lowest
level by a single bird which draped the prey and froze. the other two soon
lost interest and eventually the third bird ate the whole thing alone. the
weather was kinda iffy, so we left for the day. by late afternoon the
weather had improved enough to take one last trip up. we decided to work
the lower end of the park to see if we could see any juvenile(s) in the
trees. no luck, but i could see two birds hopping around on the scrape.
this was about 1730. spike and i went by the car, picked up the scope,
trooped up to the upper viewpoint, set up the scope, and voila no birds!
the last two miscreants had jumped off the cliff whilst we wuz schlepping
gear up to the point. after a few minutes, we spotted one youngster.
thereafter, scott dodson showed up and we were eventually able to locate
all four passagers (wild bird that has not molted into adult plumage)
within no more than 200 meters from the scrape. unlike those from years
past, these guys are not frozen in fear on the limbs of the trees they now
occupy. two birds were running back and forth over a densely branched
area, one was stretching and the last one was chewing on fir needles.

thus endeth the saga of snoqualmie falls peregrine nesting for the year
2012.
