hi all ... Gene and I spent a gorgeous day exploring Klickitat
County's Rock Creek ... our route was Hwy 14 to Rock Creek, up Rock
Creek Road to Old Hwy 8, west on Old Hwy 8, and then south again on
Goodnoe Station Road ... We were hoping to find an Ash-throated
Flycatchers but had no luck ... did have Olive-sided, Western
Wood-Pewee, and both Eastern and Western Kingbirds tho ... I think
our "highlights" however were the two Black-billed Magpie fledglings
who wouldn't get out of the middle of the road ... I actually got out
of the car and tried to shoo them off the road !!!!!! ... they could
only fly about 2 feet at a time and wouldn't run ... finally got them
to the edge of the grasses where we could creep the car past ... they
were really cute ... and definitely not afraid of humans yet ...
Our list:
American Crow
American Goldfinch
