Subject: [Tweeters] Baby birds abandoned, ID?

Kimberly,

My guess would be House Finches, simply because they not uncommonly nest in
hanging baskets! Nestling birds are very difficult to identify if the
parents are not seen.

They almost certainly are not European Starlings, which nest in cavities--
old woodpecker holes, crevices in buildings, etc.

A friend found this nest of baby birds in a hanging basket of flowers, any
idea what they are? My first guess was Starlings (but I really don't know
what I'm talking about). She's too far away for me to get an up close and
personal view.
