Stop at any state park that has a ranger, and they will sell you one for $30.00. I bought mine last year at Olallie St Pk. East of North Bend.

The Discover price is $35 including the dealer fee. They are now good for two vehicles which makes it a better deal.

Al and Tweeters,

It depends which areas you want to visit.

The Discover Pass provides access to STATE-OWNED AREAS-- mainly State Parks and State Wildlife Areas and lake access points (of which there are many!)

The Northwest Forest Pass ($30 per year, I believe) provides access to fee areas of the NATIONAL FORESTS in the Northwest (WA and OR-- I?m not sure if it also includes Idaho).

If you want access to all Federal fee areas (National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, etc., as well as National Forests), you want the Federal Interagency Pass, which costs $80 per year-- still good value for the money, in my opinion, if you travel a lot. If you are over 62 years old and a US citizen, you can get a Senior Interagency Pass, which is a LIFETIME pass to federal areas and only costs $10. (Yes, there are a few benefits to being a senior!)

I hope this clarifies the situation.

For birding around the state, is the Discover Pass all I need? or will there be times that a Forest Pass is what is needed?

By the way, the Discover Pass may now be used by two vehicles, just put the second license number (in ink) on the pass.
