I guess this can't go on forever but the Everett Whimbrel are still there as of 10am today (6/13). This morning at 9:30 I spotted 10 - way out there on the low tide mudflats. I came back a half-hour later and could only find 2. Luckily I spotted them flying before they landed on "high ground" (for a mudflat) in a patch of what I presume is Rockweed (sea algae) the color of which is so near a Whimbrel from a distance that I could only see the birds when they moved.

Anyway, high tide today is 2:47 pm. If you get there 2hrs or so before or after the high, whatever Whimbrel that are still around get pushed up towards shore. Yesterday I was able to see them just fine sitting in my truck parked in the North parking pullout on W Marine View Drive. Normaly I don't go off on distant bird chases, but this is in my hood - I only live 3 minutes away.

Also saw several female (or Imm?) Purple Martins out by the farthest nest boxes despite the drizzle.
