Yesterday evening, Wed, 6-13-12, a Common Nighthawk flew over our neighborhood at 9:00pm. It was loudly calling its distinctive beent call. I couldn't see it, but there were low clouds and it may have been high up there. It called for at least a minute or two and flew down over the main part of Des Moines before moving on. My first nighthawk for my area. Wow, a new yard bird!
