Hi All,

I had a COMMON NIGHTHAWK in the Madrona neighborhood on the evening of
June 13th. Watched it fly out across the lake. This was a first for me in
this neighborhood. Seems like a number of people have seen them recently
in other parts of Seattle.

Also of interest here in Madrona is a pair of SCRUB JAYs nesting in a
private yard behind the Grocery Outlet on MLK. If you go looking for them,
their raucous calls will probably lead you right to them. The owners of
the house had no idea what they were, but complained they've been
tormented by these loud, aggressive birds nesting in their yard for the
last 2 years.

Finally, in response to someone's earlier post, there are a number of
OLIVE SIDED FLYCATCHERS in the hillside Madrona neighborhoods facing the
lake. As in the mountains, they seem to like sunny hillsides with open
forest habitat. This species has been in this neighborhood (probably
breeding) every year for at least the past 4 years.

Happy Birding,
