Hi Tweeters,

I finally got home from the wonderful WOS conference late last night with
three and a half days of birding the northern tier of the state east of the
Cascades being my personal going home trip. Finding a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW
6-7 miles (est.) above Mud Lake on Ellemeham Road west of Oroville was my
highlight. The bird was singing in a large patch of bright green vegetation
with a tall pole topped by what I think was a solar panel standing in the
patch as a landmark. I used page 443 of the Opperman Guide to successfully
target this species. Less than a mile closer to Mud Lake there was a LEAST
FLYCATCHER calling in a large aspen/riparian area.

Dewy tent stakes sure are cold at 5 AM without gloves but the birding was
great.
