I was birding the south end of Whidbey Island this morning (6-16-12)
and saw a CHIPPING SPARROW on Bayview Road near Highway 525. It was
perched on a high chain link fence surrounding an industrial property
right behind The Goose (grocery store) and Sebo's Hardware. I talked
to a fellow who lives on the property. He asked what I was looking at
and when I told him he wondered, "Oh is that the sparrow with the red
cap?" When I confirmed that it was, he added that it is a skittish
bird and he has seen it around the property for quite a while.

The AMERICAN BITTERN continues to vocalize at the Ewing Road ponds
with at least one WILSON'S SNIPE chiming in.
