There was absolutely no need for a tape late this afternoon either at the closed Kiwanis campground where I saw/photographed a NOPA or at Camp Kiwanis a half mile east where a second NOPA was calling loudly from the tree tops. These birds are very vocal and surprisingly loud given their size.

I've expressed my opinion before, but after Nancy's statement I'll remind all WOS members of the adoption of the code of ethics from ABA which I hope all will respect:

Limit the use of recordings and other methods of attracting birds, and never use such methods in heavily birded areas, or for attracting any species that is Threatened, Endangered, or of Special Concern, or is rare in your local area.

The bird was seen yesterday and today and diagnostic photos have been obtained. PS: From what I have heard, if you go, there is no need to play recordings as the bird has been singing. Playing recordings seems to make it leave.

I actually had the bird twice in the branches:

So--hope 'ol Dennis P. and Carol Riddell are out there to check this out. Very low quality shots but at least
you can see that yellow throat and dark throat spot, bluish upperparts, along with one of the white eye arcs.
