Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 21. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

An apparent LEAST TERN was reported June 13 at Carty Reservoir in Morrow
County. On June 14 a trip to Stukel Mountain south of Klamath Falls found an
OVENBIRD, several BLACK-THROATED SPARROWS, and BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS. A
pair of GRAY-HEADED JUNCOS were seen June 14 in the Pueblo Mountains of
southeast Oregon. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at Fields June 15. On June 17 a
male ORCHARD ORIOLE was at Malheur NWR Headquarters.

HEERMANN?S GULLS are now surging northward along the coast. On June 16 a
probable AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was at New River. A singing CHAT was seen
during the week at Toledo. On June 14 a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was seen in the
Benton County Coast Range.

There were several calling NIGHTHAWKS reported during the week in Portland.
On June 18 both WESTERN and EASTERN KINGBIRDS were at Steigerwald NWR near
Washougal. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was seen June 13 at Powell Butte Park in
Gresham. A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was at Ankeny NWR June 16.

YELLOW RAILS were reported from Klamath Marsh NWR during the week. A pair of
BLACK-THROATED SPARROWS continue at Smith Rocks State Park where they are
probably nesting.
