I once read a similar story about Golden Eagles nesting on power towers in Idaho. Their nests would span the wires and short out the power, resulting in death to the eagles. The power company solved the problem by constructing platforms below the wires. Fortunately the eagles took to the platforms and successfully nested there without electrocuting themselves and knocking out the power.
