They must have had the range wrong.? I had them in Sacramento i n the late 50s and have a 1940-ish insect book (Essig) that has them on the pacific Coast.

A friend of mine here in Bellingham had a polyphemus moth on the side of her garage for a couple of days. She showed me photo on phone, I looked it up in Audubon insect field guide (30 yrs old) and the range used to be east of the Rockies. Climate change responsible?
