I recently visited the Nebraska Sandhills, a huge chunk of prairie
sitting atop the Ogallala Aquifer. You might enjoy seeing my
pictures of the landscape, as well as a few of the birds, turtles,
and wildflowers that inhabit the Sandhills; the Crescent Lake
National Wildlife Refuge proved to be a wonderful place to see some
of the iconic creatures of the prairie. This region has been in the
news recently for being the place that has temporarily stopped the
Keystone XL pipeline that will bring oil from the Alberta tar sands
down to refineries in Texas; ranchers in the region believe that a
pipeline spill could have terrible effects on the aquifer, which lies
close to the surface. To fully immerse myself in the Sandhills
