Hi Tweets,

Swung through Ridgefield NWR on Wednesday late afternoon on the way to Portland and observed 3 non-breeding adult American White Pelicans. They were in the River 'S' Unit on the auto drive between markers 10 and 11. The grass is getting quite tall on the sides of the road, so bring your stilts to look into the lakes.

I also saw 8 Great Egrets - a high count for me at the refuge. Other birds seen and heard: Virginia Rail, lots of Soras, American Bittern and 8 Greater Yellowlegs still mostly in their breeding plumage. The full list is entered into eBird.

Good Birding,
